Teacher Training Information

The CyBC Teacher Training is an intensive, 3-day training course. It is conducted mostly in Spanish, as strong fluency is a requirement for certification. This course covers the theory and philosophy behind the CyBC curriculum, the fundamentals of our methodology, teaching techniques, and topics that support successful implementation of the program.

Day 1
9:00 AM–7:00 PM*
Day 2
9:00 AM–7:00 PM
Day 3
9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Lunch hour each day: 1:00 PM–2:00 PM

*If you’re a Director attending the Intro to Canta y Baila Conmigo (Day 1), the schedule will be 9:00 AM–1:00 PM.

Course Materials

Candidates receive a binder with materials for the course as well as a family songbook and teacher manual for our introductory compilation Fiesta musical. Since these are the songs we work through and discuss during the training, those who pass the training should be able to comfortably teach demo classes or even a short introductory semester using the Fiesta musical collection.

Live Demo Classes

Candidates also get to observe two live demo classes, and on the third day each presents an assigned “project song” to be workshopped as a group. This presentation allows for deeper group discussion and showcases the candidate’s new skills in teaching the CyBC curriculum. Participation throughout the weekend plus the final project determine whether the candidate passes the training.

Course Tuition

Snacks and beverages provided but lodging and meals are not included. There is a $50 Early Bird discount if you register a month before the training. If you are working for a Music Together center, your Director can also apply their annual Director’s credit toward the tuition.

Whether you complete the MT training or the CyBC training first, the discount applies to the second training. Please note that although completing the Music Together training is a big plus for professional development, candidates do not have to complete the MT training prior to teaching CyBC – only our training is required to teach Canta y Baila Conmigo.
