Online Teacher Training Information

About Our Training

This is an online course for teachers who want to offer CyBC classes virtually or in person. It is offered as a combination of “live” Zoom meetings and modules that can be completed independently at your own pace.

Throughout the course, the principles of the philosophy, methodology and teaching techniques of the Canta y Baila Conmigo® family program are presented. We will also cover topics related to language and music development in children, and basic music theory. Participants will work individually and in groups to practice CyBC techniques, songs, and lesson planning. The course culminates in a teaching project that the participants present on the last day in the form of a cooperative workshop.

Upon completing and passing the course, the candidate receives CyBC Certification which allows them to teach the Canta y Baila Conmigo family classes or the “ELE – At School” program through a licensed center or school. CyBC LLC does not hire teachers directly but does help certified teachers find employment with active CyBC centers.

Please Note: The CyBC Online Teacher Training is conducted mostly in Spanish, as strong fluency is a requirement for certification.

Course Requirements

Music Pre-Assessment (for non-Music Together teachers)

The Pre-assessment module is meant to ensure that participants have the basic musical ability necessary to teach CyBC before embarking on the full course. This simple pre-assessment measures the candidate’s basic rhythmic and tonal aptitude and musical ‘sense’.

Participation and Homework: In order to successfully complete the course, candidates must participate in all online meetings, complete all stand-alone course modules, and pass their final project.

There will be an average of 1-2 hours of independent work to complete daily online in addition to Zoom meetings. This includes several hours of preparation before the first live meeting. The modules, however, are progressive, and it is possible to complete them before the day they are assigned.

We also offer optional office hours, as well as opportunities for questions and individual advice during the week of the course.

What is the ideal profile of a CyBC teacher?

Canta y Baila Conmigo teachers share a love of music, Hispanic culture, and child development. Apart from this, they come with a wide variety of employment experiences, culture, musical training, etc.

Each teacher brings something special with them, and this course helps to cultivate the areas in which they need to develop further. However, we know that there are a number of general qualities that our amazing teachers share:

A responsible and professional attitude

An outgoing and fun personality

Good oral expression and clear diction

Strong, pleasant, and intoned voice when singing

A strong sense of rhythm

Creativity and flexibility for improvisation

Ease of movement and good motor coordination

Ability to manage a group of both children and adults

Genuine interest in young children and their development

Ability to relate positively with parents

Interest in learning and developing personally as a teacher and musician

To become a successful CyBC teacher, you do not need a formal music education, extensive experience teaching a second language, or the ability to play a musical instrument. What is required, however, is musical aptitude, a positive attitude, and the desire to develop personally and professionally.
